ほとんどが海外のスマホメーカーが独自カスタマイズしたもの。 日本のスマホメーカーで一般的な「無言の改造」も似たようなものだが、これらは同一メーカーのスマホであればほぼ互換性がある。また海外仕様は販売数が多いため、それに比例して「野良カスタムROM」も多い。
